The weekend weather for the Columbus Day holiday weekend is a real mixed bag — Friday temperatures will reach into the low 80s — but come Sunday, Northern Virginia temperatures won't get any higher than the 50s, according to the National Weather Service.
The Friday forecast is for sunny weather with a high of 83 degrees. The skies begin to get cloudy and temperatures begin to cool off on Saturday with a 20 percent chance of rain and highs reaching 77 degrees, according to NWS.
On Sunday, Northern Virginia will see a 60 percent chance of showers and highs only reaching 56 degrees.
On the holiday, Columbus Day on Monday, the area can expect "mostly sunny skies," according to the weather service, with highs reaching 63 degrees.
The average temperature for this time of the year is about 72 degrees.
