Tim Federle is best known for working on the choreography for Broadway’s Billy Elliott, performing in Broadway’s Little Mermaid, and he most recently wrote Amazon’s Best Book of Jan. 2014, Five, Six, Seven, Nate. Federle is coming to Northern Virginia, teaching “Tips and Tricks to Nail a Broadway Dance Audition” at MSA’s Alexandria studio at 5775 Barclay Drive on Wed., Feb. 5 for middle and high school students from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Workshops are open for advanced dance, theatre and music students. Cost is $50 per student. Go to www.metropolitanarts.org to register.
Federle will be available for a book signing of his recent novel, Five, Six, Seven, Nate immediately after the workshop at Metropolitan School of the Arts and books will be available for purchase at the studio provided by Hooray For Books of Alexandria, Va. Federle also wrote Better Nate Than Never, and Tequila Mockingbird.
As a member of Billy Elliot’s Broadway choreography staff, Tim Federle saw thousands of kids audition for the show—and helped train the lucky few who made it to the top. In “Tips & Tricks to Nail a Broadway Dance Audition”, students will be taught a fast, fun combination to a popular song and then learn the surprising secret insights to standing out (in a good way) at any audition. Federle’s background includes backup dancing for Christina Aguilera, appearing in the original Broadway cast of The Little Mermaid, and writing the theater-themed novel Better Nate Than Ever for kids.
“We are so honored to have Tim Federle visit our studio to share his Broadway experience and creative talent; we encourage passionate performing artists to take advantage of his engaging and inspiring workshop,” said Melissa Dobbs, president and founder of Metropolitan School of the Arts in Lorton, Va.
