Visions for Vacancies: Storefront on Richmond Highway

What type of business would you like to see locate to this vacant storefront?

This storefront was previously occupied by St. Clair, a former appliance distribution company. The building is next to the Kings Crossing development, which currently includes a Wal-Mart and a Chuck E. Cheese.

The shopping center is on Richmond Highway across the street from the vacant Rite Aid.

County officials and local business organizations are not aware of any plans for the site. Calls to the leasing agents were not returned.

So, what would you like to see occupy this storefront? Is there a type of business you think our community needs?

An artists / craftpersons store / studio space, where painters, potters, and others could display their wares, hold classes and demonstrations, and so forth, along the lines of The Torpedo Factory (in Old Towne Alexandria).

How about a gym that trains boys and girls for the olympic sport of gymnastics. They could also do cheerleading and other activities to keep our children moving.

YMCA would be great and a lot closer then the one in Del Ray. There's a Boys and Girls Club in Old Town already. I think a family center is also a great idea - pottery making place, laser tag, skateboarding, climbing wall, etc. Another store I feel we need locally is a used sporting store like the Play Again sports (closest one is Leesburg)

Trader joes, sporting goods store like REI or an independent one (not sports authority or modell's). No more nail salons, chain restaurants, junk food, junk stores. We need stores that sell quality goods. I don't think that it's big enough for a department store. But it would be nice to have some specialty clothing/shoe stores for kids and women (OK men, too) How about DSW?

YMCA, sport rock, laser tag, Dave & Buster's, somewhere to have fun, parties for adults or kids.
