Japanese Delegation Visits Mount Vernon Athletic Club

Fitness industry business leaders recently visited the Mount Vernon Athletic Club.

A delegation of 24 fitness industry business leaders from Japan recently visited the Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MTVAC).

A cover article in the October 2012 Club Business International magazine featuring MTVAC General Manager, Aaron Volbrecht caught the attention of Japanese representative, Tomoko Iwai. Iwai requested a meeting with Volbrecht in the hopes of learning about the many services the club offers.

The delegation toured the facility and interviewed Volbrecht on March 17 en route to the International Health, Racquet & Sport Club Association (IHRSA) convention in Las Vegas.

Iwai, who is also the editor of Fitness Magazine in Japan, remarked in a statement, "Many of our delegates were inspired that your club is introducing new programs and services to fit to your members' needs. Some of our delegates noted that there were four to five gentlemen having fun talking together upstairs in front of the coffee stand. And a father and daughter were playing table tennis. From that scene, we realized that the club supports the members and their families with their service and environment. That is the biggest strength and factor that the members stay a long time with your club, we thought.”

"We are a little club tucked away in Alexandria and to have other club operators from the other side of the world be interested in how we do things is pretty amazing," Volbrecht said in a press release. "I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish and it feels great to be recognized for it. The good news is there is always room for more growth!"
