Tex-mex restaurant Chevys has closed their Mount Vernon Plaza location.

The restaurant announced their closure on Jan. 19 on their Facebook page. The restaurant is on 7732 Richmond Highway.

The post reads:

“Chevys Alexandria thanks you for over 6 years of support & patronage. We look forward to serving you at our Chevys Brandywine, Chevys Annapolis, & Chevys Arundel Mills locations in the future!!!”

What a loss! We have very little to choose from already, & this was a winner! I'd love to see one of the "Great American Restaurants" (ie, Mike's, Sweetwaters), in the area.

I never went there. I do not eat Southwestern food. Federal Realty does not have a decent dining room. I would recommend Café Caturra a Richmond based establishment. beautiful great wine and wonderful tradition entrees and deserts. There is one in Arlington. What we have there are equal to fast foods.

I ate there once and enjoyed it thoroughly. They might have done better if they had used a more Tex-Mex name. Sorry to see them go.

Silly me; I forgot that there is still a Chevy's location at Pentagon City. That's not such a long drive.
