Tex-mex restaurant Chevys has closed their Mount Vernon Plaza location.

The restaurant announced their closure on Jan. 19 on their Facebook page. The restaurant is on 7732 Richmond Highway.

The post reads:

“Chevys Alexandria thanks you for over 6 years of support & patronage. We look forward to serving you at our Chevys Brandywine, Chevys Annapolis, & Chevys Arundel Mills locations in the future!!!”

Will you miss Chevy’s Alexandria? Tell us in the comments.

we stopped in for dinner 3 days before they closed...were so sad to hear the news. Will definitely miss them. In our opinion there was no better place along the route 1 corridor for Tex Mex style food and the occasional delicious margarita. It had easy parking, was not far from home, good food and beverages, a cute decor, and friendly staff. Sadly, I don't see us making the trek to their other locations. We like to stick close to home when dining out. They will be missed. :-(

El Paso Mexican restaurant is down route 1. It is very authentic!!

They were not bad for a chain restaurant...friendly staff, decent margaritas, loved the fresh table side guacamole. But I hope an independent place goes in that spot...maybe something like a steakhouse or real-deal barbecue.

We will miss them terribly! (I had no idea they had closed).

So, who is moving in? Anyone know?

This was the highest quality restaurant to occupy that space in the 25 years we’ve lived here. We desperately need higher quality restaurants on the Route 1 corridor. A Mexican restaurant like Guapo’s would be great.

What a loss! We have very little to choose from already, & this was a winner! I'd love to see one of the "Great American Restaurants" (ie, Mike's, Sweetwaters), in the area.

I never went there. I do not eat Southwestern food. Federal Realty does not have a decent dining room. I would recommend Café Caturra a Richmond based establishment. beautiful great wine and wonderful tradition entrees and deserts. There is one in Arlington. What we have there are equal to fast foods.

I ate there once and enjoyed it thoroughly. They might have done better if they had used a more Tex-Mex name. Sorry to see them go.

Silly me; I forgot that there is still a Chevy's location at Pentagon City. That's not such a long drive.
