Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre Holding 'Oklahoma!' Auditions

Auditions will be held Sept. 10 through 14.

The Mount Vernon Community Children’s Theatre is holding auditions for its upcoming musical, Rodgers and Hammerstein's “Oklahoma!” beginning Monday.

Auditions will take place at , 2709 Popkins Lane. The children’s theatre describes “Oklahoma!” as a true American classic that tells the story of cowboy Curly McLain and his romance with farm girl Laurey Williams alongside the drama of Will Parker and his flirtatious fiancée, Ado Annie. It includes songs such as “Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’,” “The Surrey with the Fringe on Top” and “People Will Say We’re in Love.”

Vocal auditions will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday for ages 8 through 10 and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for ages 11 through 18. Additional vocal auditions will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday for ages 8 through 10 and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for ages 11 through 18.

Dance auditions will take place Thursday, Sept. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for ages 8 through 18.

MVCCT is a non-profit organization. There is a participation fee of $200 for children cast, which is due Sept. 18. Need-based scholarships are available.
