It’s almost time for the free summer concert series at! Bring a blanket, a picnic basket and the family dog as concerts begin in June at the "A Pavilion," at the south end of Fort Hunt Road.
The concerts are courtesy of the National Park Service and will be held Sundays at 7 p.m., weather permitting.
Owen Hammett, a volunteer for NPS who took the lead in this summer series, called the concerts acts of public service.
“They started nearly 30 years ago, having consecutive Sunday evenings,” Hammett said. They’re from 7 to 8, and they had done this just for a long time. It’s been a tradition for a lot of families in Fort Hunt to do that on a summer evening.”
