Family Concert by Melissa Cox and her Band

Melissa Cox, a classically trained vocalist, who plays guitar,  mandolin, and ukulele, and her band will present a benefit concert Sunday, September 9, at 7:30 p.m., at the Mount Vernon Unitarian Church (MVUC) Chapel, 1909 Windmill Lane, Alexandria.

Cox and  her band, who are finishing their east coast summer tour, perform combinations of folk, rock, classical, Celtic, and world fusion music. Her songs highlight peace, love, and social justice.

The concert is free, but a goodwill offering will be taken to benefit Beacon House, which provides mentoring, athletic, and nutritional programs to at-risk children in the Edgewood Terrace community of Washington, DC. Beaconhousedc.org.  The concert is part of an occasional series at MVUC to benefit local charities. For more information see www.mvuc.org.
