Acoustic Eidolon To Deliver 'Diversified' Sound At St. Aidan's

Musical duo set to fill St. Aidan's with acoustic notes on Saturday evening.

Fort Hunt's will be alive with acoustic re-verb and finger-pickin' fun Saturday night, as musical duo Acoustic Eidolon bring their talents to Fort Hunt. is the musical partnership of Joe Scott and Hannah Alkire, first forged in 1998. Hailing from the Colorado Rockies, the musical twosome are making a short tour swing through the Mid Atlantic before heading back West.

Joe Scott sports an unusual, self-designed double-neck (14 strings) guitjo or banjitar (a guitar-banjo hybrid), while the classically-trained Hannah Alkire struts her stuff on the cello. Their musical creation is a strange amalgamation of folk, classical, Celtic, and Latin. The blend of styles and influences produces something the duo likes to call "new acoustic," and its been captivating audiences and pleasing ears for well over a decade now.

At a previous concert, Scott has described the group's music as either "extremely diversified, or perhaps, a little schizophrenic." The assessment isn't far off. Fans would likely describe the duo's music in a myriad of ways, each picking out different paticulars they find appealing. But critics and admirers alike, would certainly agree that Acoustic Eidolon's is 'unique.'

The twosome's "new acoustic" sound is ideal for St. Aidan's, as their beautiful, bright, and bouncing harmonies can echo throughout the cavernous chapel. Joe and Hannah are very excited to play at St. Aidan's, where they've performed once before. "We love playing at this church," says cellist Alkire. "It's kind of a mix of modern and traditional interior design, but it's all wood, which we find really inspiring and great for the acoustics."

The duo's relationship became more than musical in 2001, as the two took their partnership from the stage to the altar. Their passion for music and for one another shines through at their live performances, engaging listners in laughter, applause, and joy.
