Lauren: We had to apply for the scholarship and write an essay that discussed business. The judges read and voted on our essay's and mine was one of the six that was chosen. Another girl from West Potomac also won, Cassie Jacobs.
Patch: What was your essay about?
Lauren: This is a business scholarship and we had to write something about business in our lives. My mother created her own business called Turtle Wings and I have been working with her since I was eleven years old. I wrote about my experience with the company and what business means to me.
Patch: What is your favorite thing about business?
Lauren: I love everything about business. I am a very organized person and I love working with people, solving problems and working hard.
Patch: Do you have any other hobbies or activities?
Lauren: I was on varsity cheerleading for all four years and was captain my last two years. I was also involved with other clubs and I worked with my Mother's company.
Patch: What's next for you?
Lauren: Next week is finals and SOL's, so I have a lot of stress and studying to go. After that, I will be working on a volunteer project for two weeks with SHOUT. It means Students Helping Others United Together and I had to apply for the opportunity, just like all of the other West Potomac students involved. In the Fall I will be heading off to UVA for business.
