Weekend weather New Years weekend

We'll be warming up slightly this weekend, with temperatures in the 50s for the first time in the last month or so.

Here is the full forecast from the National Weather Service:

 Friday: Sunny, high near 53 degrees, low around 36 degrees.

Saturday: A chance of showers, temperatures at about 58 degrees. Lows at around 44 degrees.

Sunday: A chance of showers, a high near 50 degrees and a low around 28 degrees.

Celebrate the New Year at First Night Alexandria. The family-friendly event  features music, dancing, magic and clowns. Festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. at 1605 Cameron Street. Tickets are $20. For more information, go to http://firstnightalexandria.org

The Arlington Draft House is also ringing in the New Year. The celebration has an 80s theme. Tickets are $14; must be 21 and older to enter. It is at the draft house at 2903 Columbia Pike starting at 7:30 p.m. For more information, go to http://www.arlingtondrafthouse.com

Over the weekend, there is also Frostival a family festival in Chantilly. The evens are targeted to elementary school children. It includes rides, crafts and story telling. The event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is at 3368 Chantilly Shopping Center Drive. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $6 for adults, $12 for youths 3-12 years old. Children 2 and under are free. For more information, go to http://www.frostival.com/
