Celebrate the New Year at First Night Alexandria. The family-friendly event features music, dancing, magic and clowns. Festivities begin at 7:00 p.m. at 1605 Cameron Street. Tickets are $20. For more information, go to http://firstnightalexandria.org

Over the weekend, there is also Frostival a family festival in Chantilly. The evens are targeted to elementary school children. It includes rides, crafts and story telling. The event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday is at 3368 Chantilly Shopping Center Drive. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
