Wednesday Storm Knocks Out Power to Hollin Hills for More than 10 Hours

Thunderstorm unleashed torrential downpour that flooded areas as well.

Mother Nature delivered a wallop to the Northern Virginia area Wednesday afternoon, knocking out power to some areas and creating flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Residents across the area, including Hollin Hills, saw their power knocked out by the powerful storm.

Many in the Hollin Hills neighborhood were without power for more than 10 hours, a resident reported this morning.

Many drivers caught in the downpour on area roadways either pulled over or put on their flashers and slowed to about 30 miles per hour.

DDOT reports a sink hole that was filled with water yesterday on Northbound 395 as you merge off of the 14th Street Bridge onto 395 in the HOV lane. Drivers should use an alternate route to avoid any delays if possible.
