VIDEO: Fairfax County Firefighters Give Free Kids' Haircuts

Fairfax County fire and rescue staff teamed up with local barbers to offer free back-to-school haircuts.

Fairfax County firefighters and barbers from the Route 1 corridor joined forces to offer free haircuts to students Monday at the Gum Springs Community Center.

Firefighters — many of whom used to be barbers — and local barbers offered the free service in time for back to school as a way to give back to the community. Last year, the first year they held the event at the community center, more than 100 children received free haircuts.

Students also enjoyed music and free face-painting Monday while waiting for their turn.
