5. Two Men Rob 7-Eleven in Mount Vernon

Fairfax County Police are investigating the robbery of a Mount Vernon convenience store on Monday afternoon.

Just after 3 p.m., two men entered the 7-Eleven at 8146 Old Mount Vernon Road. One man reportedly displayed a handgun and demanded money from the employee. The suspects took money and fled on foot, according to police. There were no injuries.

4. Costco Gives Preview Of Store Before Opening

Sales associates lined up at the entrance of the new Costco on Richmond Highway as Alexandria residents stopped by Wednesday to get a preview of the store.

The 600-space parking lot quickly filled as residents visited to register for their Costco memberships and view the inside of the massive new addition to the Route 1 corridor.

3. Police Investigating Hybla Valley Shooting

Fairfax County police are investigating the Friday afternoon shooting of a man in a Hybla Valley apartment.

Just before 1 p.m., police responded to an apartment in the 8400 block of Richmond Highway for a report of a man shot.

Responding officers discovered an adult male with injuries to his upper body inside an apartment. The man was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. 

2. Update: Body Found on Occoquan Identified, Husband Charged With Murder

Fairfax County Police have identified the body of Andrea Crew of Alexandria as the woman found floating on the Occoquan River on Saturday, Aug. 10, and have charged her husband, 25-year-old Caleb Crew, with her murder.

Andrea Crew, 31, a mother of two living in the 8000 block of Gila Court in Alexandria, was found by a boater at around 9 a.m. on Saturday.

1. City View Brewhouse Coming Soon to Richmond Highway

Alexandria residents will soon have a new dining option along the Route 1 corridor. The former Dairy Queen site on Richmond Highway will become City View Brewhouse — a locally owned and operated restaurant.

Construction on the restaurant, located at 6925 Richmond Highway (at the corner of East Lee Avenue), will begin this fall, according to Southeast Fairfax Development Corporation (SFDC). City View Brewhouse will be a 6,000 sq. ft., full service restaurant and brewery.
