This Week's Weather: From Chilly to Summerlike

Below-average temps give way to possible thunderstorms mid-week with highs near 88 Friday.

Northern Virginia's chillier-than-normal temperatures will give way to possible thunderstorms and warmer temperatures mid-week, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service predicts a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday; Doug Hill, ABC7 chief meterologist predicts a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms for Tuesday. Highs will reach 79 to 80 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thunderstorms mid-week will leave the area partly sunny on Thursday and mostly sunny on Friday with highs reaching up to 88 degrees on Friday, according to Jason Samenow with the Capital Weather Gang.

The best weather will come on the weekend, with highs near 80 degrees Saturday and mid to upper 70s on Sunday. The Weather Channel is predicting a 30 percent chance of rain on Saturday and a 10 percent change of precipitation on Sunday.
