Mount Vernon Farmers Market Vendors Give Back to UCM

UCM received 100 pounds of fresh produce and baked goods this week.

This year, vendors at the Mount Vernon Farmers Market at Sherwood Regional Library  will donate unsold fresh produce and baked goods to the United Community Ministries Cynthia Hull Food Pantry in Greater Alexandria.

This week, UCM received about 100 pounds of onions, potatoes, carrots, various lettuces and fresh bread and pastries.

For years, Pam Beggan of Alexandria has been in charge of finding volunteers to pick up the produce to deliver it to UCM at the market’s noon closing. She connected with the Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club a few years ago, and the organization committed numerous weekly volunteers.
