UPDATE: Nearly All Power Restored in Hybla Valley

Small pocket of five homes still waiting for power

UPDATE 4:45 a.m. Hybla Valley residents' power is back on after a night of outages caused by a thunderstorm that came through the area Friday night. A small pocket of five homes off of Route 1 and Beacon Hill appeared to still be waiting for the lights to come back on, according to Dominion Power's outage map.

UPDATE 10:15 pm: Dominion Power's map continues to show several power outages across Hybla Valley of more than 300 homes without power after a thunderstorm rolled through the area tonight.

Power was out in more than 23,000 Fairfax County homes earlier in the evening. As of 10:15 p.m., the number was 12,924 without power. In Alexandria, there were 3,169 without power earlier n the evening. As of 10:15 p.m., 1,001 were without power.

Thunderstorms rolling through the area have knocked out power across the region, including to more than 300 homes in the Hybla Valley area, according to an interactive map on Dominion Power's Web site.

From the map it appears to be the neighborhood just southwest of the Mount Vernon Plaza Shopping Center.

The map shows one group of homes, 329, to be without power, and another group of 18 homes, also without power.
