Help a Child at Huntington Community Center's Angel Tree

The Angel Tree is on display at the community center with many gift suggestions from local children.

The Huntington Community Center is helping local children with what they are calling an Angel Tree this holiday season. The Angel Tree is up and filled with gift suggestions from neighborhood children.

"The children decorated their angels and put them on the tree with something they want or need under $20," said Elisa Velasco, the center's assistant director.

Those interested in donating a gift can stop by the center during regular hours Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. Gifts must be dropped off at the center by Dec. 20, so the children can receive them by Dec. 21.

In addition to Angel Tree, the community center is still having its food drive through December, and are also accepting donations of men's socks, thermal underwear, gloves/mittens, scarves and hats for children and adults and travel-sized toiletry items.

Velasco said the center will also have a Christmas celebration Saturday, Dec. 15 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will visit for photos, and Mrs. Claus will read a story to the kids.
