Good Shepherd Kicks Off International Festival with 5K Run/Walk

Proceeds from the run will benefit the Shepherd's Gate grant program.

About 200 people participated in Good Shepherd Catholic Church's 2nd Annual 5K/1K Run Saturday morning. The run was the beginning of a weekend celebration that includes the 38th Annual International Festival scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. Monday.

The event included a 5K and a 1K run/walk for adults and children.

Proceeds from Saturday's run will benefit Shepherd's Gate grant program. So far this year, the program has raised about $30,000 to benefit 20 different organization around the country, said Bill DeMaso during the introduction.

Good Shepherd Catholic Church has invited the parish to wear costumes representing their different countries to mass at noon on Sunday.

Proceeds from Monday's International Festival will also benefit local nonprofit organizations.
