Friends of Huntley Meadows Park to Hold Photo Contest

Entries can be submitted beginning Nov. 4.

Have an amazing shot of flora or fauna at ? The Friends of Huntley Meadows Park are holding the group’s annual photography contest and seeking submissions from childrens and adults.

There’s still time to take that perfect photo. Submissions will be accepted beginning Nov. 4 through Nov. 17. All photos entered must have been taken at the park, located at 3701 Lockheed Blvd., just west of Route 1.

“Basically, it’s an opportunity for people to show off their skills with photography and show all the beautiful things you can see here at Huntley Meadows Park,” said Kathi McNeil, president of Friends of Huntley Meadows Park, a nonprofit that supports park programs.

All photographs are judged by professional photographers. Entries are divided into two categories, for adults and children. Entrants may submit up to four photographs at $5 each for adults. The fee for children and teens is waived.

Friends of Huntley Meadows Park will hold a reception for the winners Dec. 9 at the park and will display the entered photos at the park’s visitor center for two months. After that, photos may be sold, with the proceeds benefiting the park.

For more information on the contest, visit the park’s visitor center for written information or call the park at 703-768-2525.
