Construction for the new Blackjack Dog Park at Lenclair Park in the Groveton area of Alexandria is scheduled to begin the first week of October. According to a recent news release from the Fairfax County Park Authority, construction will continue through the month and portions of the park and adjacent sidewalks may be closed temporarily during that time.
The dog park will be located at the intersection of Lenclair and Memorial streets. It will be the park authority’s ninth off-leash dog area. Fairfax County committed to constructing the new dog park in 2005 when the Board of Supervisors approved the Beacon of Groveton rezoning application.
The park authority and local residents consulted and developed plans for the new dog park. Management of the dog park will be overseen by a community volunteer sponsor group, reporting any maintenance concerns to the park authority. Learn more about Blackjack Dog Park.
