In the midst of the latest winter storm, crews at the area's two major airports are having a tough time fighting the elements, according to to the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority.

As of 10 a.m., three runways were open at Dulles International Airport, but few flights were operating. All runways were closed at Reagan National Airport, but terminal facilities and a few concessions were open.

There have been 125 flights canceled heading out of Dulles on Monday and 320 flights cancelled heading out of Reagan, according to FlightStats.com.

"Passengers with flights today should re-confirm the status of their flight directly with their airline before leaving for the airport," the authority noted. "Many, but not all, flights are expected to be canceled due to weather. If your flight is canceled, please contact your airline to rebook, instead of coming to the airport."
