Tempo Restaurant, Back to School and Free Food for Kids

Here are a few things you should know about for Sept. 3.

The holiday weekend is over, and so is summer vacation for Fairfax County and City of Alexandria students. Here are a few things you should know about for Sept. 3 in Alexandria.

It’s the first day back to school
for many students in the City of Alexandria’s public school system and in Fairfax County. Be alert and on the lookout when little feet hit the street by walking, biking, driving and busing.

For the pre-school set, stop by the Duncan Library
at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. for stories and songs for ages one to four years. The library is located at 2501 Commonwealth Ave. inAlexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood. 703-746-1793.

Get free food at Pizzeria Orso.
On Tuesdays, kids under 10 years old get one free item from the children’s menu for each traditional or house specialty pizza ordered. The pizzeria is located in Falls Church at 400 S. Maple Ave. Call 703-226-3460 for more information.

Check out Tempo restaurant’s Monday/Tuesday
special offer of a $55 three-course dinner for two, including a bottle of house white or red. The West End Alexandria gem serves northern Italian and French cuisine. Located at 4231 Duke St., 703-370-7900. (The special is not valid on holidays.)

Save the Date. A wine and chocolate tasting at One More Page Books in Arlington begins at 7 p.m. Friday. The bookstore is located at 2200 N. Westmoreland St., No. 101. For more information, call 703-300-9746.
