West Potomac High School Hosts AIA Band Competition Saturday
More than 40 schools in the region have signed up to participate.
Indoor bands, drumlines, and color guards from across the region will convene at West Potomac High School for the AIA Indoor Competition Saturday.
More than 40 schools across the region are scheduled to participate. Participating bands and color guards include West Potomac, McLean JV, South County High School, and Herndon High School.
The AIA competition is a fundraiser for the West Potomac Band Boosters, not just financially but to raise awareness of the bands, Band Boosters President Sandra Aylward said.
"The band competition is a fundraiser in awareness of what students can do within the band program, not just marching band," Aylward said."We're trying to get a larger pot of money so we can have more opportunities for the kids."
Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased online at http://www.wolverineband.com/Wolverine_Band/Indoor_Competition.html. The competition begins at noon.
