Weekend Planner: The Real Dr. Strangelove and A Town Hall Meeting
Alexandria restaurant week ends this weekend
There may be snow on the ground, but the roads are clear and there's plenty of events going on around the area. Here's our top five:
- Alexandria Restaurant Week: This weekend marks the last three days of Alexandria's winter restaurant week. Check out the write-up on Old Town Alexandria Patch. (Friday through Sunday)
- The Real Dr. Strangelove: George Mason University's Center for the Arts presents the L.A. Theatre Works version of Edward Teller and Robert Openheimer's differing perspectives on nuclear weapons. (Friday, 8 p.m.)
- Surovell / Puller Town Hall: Del. Scott Surovell (D-44) and Sen. Toddy Puller (D-36) invite Mount Vernon residents to a town hall meeting at the Mount Vernon Government Center. Citizens can voice their opinions on a variety of issues from budget cuts to Route One funding. (Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.)
- Native Wildflower Meadows: It may be a frozen tundra outside currently, but the parks department invites those seeking warmth in native wildflowers to come out Saturday afternoon to Huntley Meadows Park. (Saturday 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
- Mount Vernon RECenter's Public Skate: Come celebrate National Ice Skating Month this weekend at your neighborhood skating rink. (Sunday, 12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.)
