This storefront was previously occupied by St. Clair, a former appliance distribution company. The building is next to the Kings Crossing development, which currently includes a Wal-Mart and a Chuck E. Cheese.

The shopping center is on Richmond Highway across the street from the vacant Rite Aid.

County officials and local business organizations are not aware of any plans for the site. Calls to the leasing agents were not returned.

So, what would you like to see occupy this storefront? Is there a type of business you think our community needs?

Why must the *county* create such a thing? Seems to me there are lots higher priorities for tax monies, and that a few parents creating, or an existing, non-profit could better fulfill the need.

Sorry; I should have written "Why should" instead of "Why must".

Why not return it to what it was originally. I spent many afternoons or evening Duck Bowling at this location. Much more challenging then 10 Pin Bowling. You could have the bowling on one level and a teen center or roller rink on the other. A good place for Family enjoyment, something badly needed in this are.

Fat chance of "county created" happening on any site directly connected to Richmond Highway. "County created" facilities and amenities in Mount Vernon are exclusive to those communities to the east of the corridor.
Girls & Boys Clubs as well as many other youth oriented organizations are private entity enterprises. A private enterprise roller rink, or something more in line with skateboarding, bmx biking or other x-treme sports youth interest would be an appropriate potential conversion. Or how about a private indoor dog park. Fairfax County Park Authority is on a kick to make more of these so why not have a few private ones. Private gyms and golf courses seem to thrive even with the Park Authority operating the same.

Some family-activity-oriented facility would be a great idea - laser tag, skateboarding, roller skating/blading, climbing walls. Please no more chain restaurants, fast food joints, banks, etc.

An artists / craftpersons store / studio space, where painters, potters, and others could display their wares, hold classes and demonstrations, and so forth, along the lines of The Torpedo Factory (in Old Towne Alexandria).

How about a gym that trains boys and girls for the olympic sport of gymnastics. They could also do cheerleading and other activities to keep our children moving.

YMCA would be great and a lot closer then the one in Del Ray. There's a Boys and Girls Club in Old Town already. I think a family center is also a great idea - pottery making place, laser tag, skateboarding, climbing wall, etc. Another store I feel we need locally is a used sporting store like the Play Again sports (closest one is Leesburg)

Trader joes, sporting goods store like REI or an independent one (not sports authority or modell's). No more nail salons, chain restaurants, junk food, junk stores. We need stores that sell quality goods. I don't think that it's big enough for a department store. But it would be nice to have some specialty clothing/shoe stores for kids and women (OK men, too) How about DSW?

YMCA, sport rock, laser tag, Dave & Buster's, somewhere to have fun, parties for adults or kids.
