Underwood Finishes Ninth In National Track and Field Event
West Potomac senior raced Saturday night at Madison Square Garden

West Potomac High School senior Sarah Jane Underwood finished ninth in a high school track and field event Saturday night at New York City's famed Madison Square Garden.
Underwood ran the one-mile race in 5:03.65 at the USA Track and Field's U.S. Open event. Earlier this month Underwood ran a 5:09 mile at the Montgomery Invitational, according to MileStat.com.
"This will be Underwood's second consecutive weekend in New York City after she ran on West Potomac's 4x800 meter relay last weekend at the New Balance Games which clocked a state leading performance of 9:26.50," according to MileStat.com.
The event was broadcasted on ESPN2 on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
