The Valenzano Trio Presents 20th Century Music for String Trio

The D.C.-based string trio will perform at Mount Vernon Unitarian Church on Sunday.

 

The Valenzano Trio will perform  “20th Century Music for String Trio," on Sunday at Mount Vernon Unitarian Church.

The concert will begin with Ernő Dohnányi’s Serenade in C major, Op. 10. Bohuslav Martinů’s 1934 String Trio No. 2, H. 238 will follow. After an intermission, Zoltan Kodály’s short Intermezzo for String Trio precedes Ellen Taaffe Zwilich’s String Trio (1982).

The Valenzano Trio was founded this year and includes Molly Hodges-Hollingsworth, violin; Kimberly Hankins, viola; Jonathan Aaron Cain, cello. Hodges-Hollingsworth is a performer, collaborator, teacher, and scholar. Hankins has performed as a soloist and chamber musician and is the recipient of the Artistic Excellence Award at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.

The concert is part of a series of concerts that serve as fundraisers for the music program at MVUC. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, and donations are welcome.
