The Potomac River has been named one of the most endangered rivers, according to a report released this week.

The Fairfax County Planning Commission deferred a vote Thursday on a proposed interim off-leash dog park at Westgrove Park following a three-hour public hearing. The commission will vote on it at its May 31 meeting.

Police are investigating a possible homicide that occurred in the Sequoyah housing complex near Mount Vernon Woods Elementary School on Wednesday night. A man was found in a car with gunshot wounds to his upper body and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A minor bus accident occurred during dismissal at Mount Vernon High School Thursday. No one was injured.

A public hearing on the proposed widening of Richmond Highway has been scheduled for June 5 at Hayfield High School.
