Do you have guests in town for Inauguration Weekend?
Chances are, your guests will want to do more than sit on your couch waiting for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday. So, we’ve rounded up some things you can do right here in Greater Alexandria to keep your guests entertained and happy.
Where to Eat
Your guests can dine at the Cedar Knoll Inn, located just north of Mount Vernon on the George Washington Parkway and features a diverse menu in a historical building.
For something quick and inexpensive, check out Dishes of India, Roseina's, and the Hollin Hall Pastry Company and Shop.
Places to See
Be sure to have your guest check out the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens. Your guests can tour the Mount Vernon Estate and learn how the Washingtons lived.
Things to Do
Take a hike at Huntley Meadows Park and see a bit of nature.
Check out George Washington's inauguration items at the Donald W. Reynolds Museum and Education Center at the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens.

Hi Jessie,
Excellent list, but not sure I would say Dishes of India is inexpensive. We do love eating there though!
The Freedom House in Old Town is quite the experience. Very sober, very moving, even haunting knowing the building's history of captivity.

Why did you put Cedar Knoll on the list of places to eat? Talk about a waste of prime space, I suggest Southside 815 or Austin Grille.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your suggestions for places to go! I wanted to focus on places that are in the Huntington, Belle Haven, Belle View, and Fort Hunt communities, but I absolutely welcome suggestions in Old Town as they're just a quick drive up the Parkway!
