PHOTOS: Saturday Storm Damage in Northern Virginia
Add your storm photos to the gallery.
A powerful storm that swept through Northern Virginia Saturday knocked down trees, knocked out power and sent area residents scurrying from outdoor weekend events.
The National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning and winds were clocked at between 60 to 70 miles per hour. No word on whether a tornado touched down in the area.

I am grateful that I have not heard of any death/serious injuries from such a surprise storm. At least the people without power are not having to face unbearable heat this time around. Thanks for the pictures!

I love you guys Patch! But a few of those pictures were kind of silly... (just a few branches on the ground?) Please only post the photos that show the true impact of the storm. Several of the photo's did just that. Great coverage. Thank you!!!!

Apologies Jen. This photo gallery is comprised of photos by Patch editors as well as Patch readers (any user can post photos to the site). If it's my photos you're referring to in particular I'm sorry they are silly.

Wow. We did not have it that bad in our little area of Alexandria. Just a few leaves on the ground here.
