New mixed-use development on Route 1 is currently leasing apartments.
The Beacon of Groveton mixed-use development on Route 1 has begun leasing top-level space and is offering tours for prospective residents.
The development, a joint project of Redbrick Development Group and Wood Partners, includes 290 units, which occupy six floors on a total of eight levels, and ground-level retail. Property Manager Kim Martin said Saturday she could not comment on prospective retail tenants but said she hoped to bring in a restaurant that would deliver to residents.
The development also includes a six-level parking garage.
The development sits on the grounds of the old Beacon Airfield location and will incorporate airfield art into the development’s decor, Martin said. Managers are also working with Old Town’s Torpedo Factory Art Center to bring the works of some of those artists to the building.
Martin is currently leasing units on the eighth floor. Leasing geared up two weeks ago, and a handful of units have been leased, she said. Luxury amenities include granite countertops and wood-plank floors, a saltwater pool, a theater room, a poker room with a wet bar, a gym with a CrossFit section, a gaming center and valet trash disposal.
The development will hold a grand opening at the end of September and is scheduled to be completed after the first of the year.
Rent starts at $1,645 for studio apartments, $1,790 for a one-bedroom and $2,115 for a two-bedroom apartment.
