More than 450 West Potomac High School graduates filled the seats on the floor of GMU's Patriot Center on Friday afternoon in Fairfax. The class of 2012 celebrated their accomplishments with a ceremony in the company of proud family and friends.

The afternoon's high points included graduate speaker Clara Wear, who gave a witty and inspiring speech touting the advantages to being average—of which she claims to be.

The day's celebration honored almost 80 honor graduates and also recognized and gave thanks to students who were committed to military service.

That's a lovely picture. It's actually a picture of my husband, Steve Rice. Steve Jacoby is the younger director with glasses. Wendy Rice
