PHOTOS: Mount Vernon Council of Citizens' Associations Gala
The 23rd annual celebration honored notable citizens, associations, and students of the Mount Vernon District.
Outstanding Mount Vernon District residents were honored at the Mount Vernon Council of Citizens' Associations 23rd Annual Gala Saturday night at the Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton.
Dr. Glenn Fatzinger was honored for his numerous contributions to the Mount Vernon Distric and Fairfax County, including his role as one of the founding members of the MVCCA and acquiring Grist Mill Park. Girl Scout Association 53 was named the Mount Vernon District Organization of the Year for its role in developing the leadership skills of thousands of young women in the district. Mount Vernon High School senior Eugene Coleman III, South County Secondary School senior Megan McDaniels, and West Potomac High School senior Sarah Jane Underwood were all honored as Student Volunteers of the Year for their leadership roles in their respective high schools.
Del. Scott Surovell (D-44) gave an update on this past legislative session, and Supervisor Gerry Hyland delivered closing remarks.
