Patch Tries: Denny's Maple Bacon Sundae
Patch editor Brian Krebs and site food critic Erica Laxson taste test a Baconalia featured item.
Do you like ice cream sundaes? Who doesn't. Do you like bacon? Most people do, too.
But the two together? Erica and I were skeptical at first too. But, I figured I love the two separately. How bad could the union of the two really be?
We tried the Maple Bacon Sundae at the Denny's on Richmond Highway. The sundae is a limited-time featured item at Denny's restaurants nationwide and is a part of the Baconalia series, which also includes a BBBLT sandwich and bacon meatloaf. The $2.99 dessert features vanilla ice cream, chunks of bacon and warm maple syrup. Calorie and fat content information are not available online.
I was pleasantly surprised. The sweet ice cream and maple syrup contrasted nicely with the salty bacon bits. Erica mentioned it would be perfect atop a Belgian waffle.
As I said in the video, I would have preferred more bacon and less maple syrup. A lot less maple syrup.

My Mom ordered it and I couldn't stop eating it. It was very good!
