Just across the Potomac River is Maryland’s newest tourist hot spot: National Harbor. The 300 acre property is easily accessible from the Beltway and a mere six miles via Alexandria water taxi. Boasting half a dozen luxury hotels, a convention center, restaurants, shopping and countless events and activities all year round, there is never a dull moment. With both a hot nightlife scene and numerous family friendly activities, National Harbor is the perfect get away for any day, night or weekend.
Shopping
Unique boutiques, hot designer stores and big name favorites line the streets of National Harbor with inviting window displays and welcoming sales associates. Whether you’re looking for something in particular or you’re just out for a day of window shopping, they’ve got what you need. Check out the one of a kind Peeps Store for delicious treats or create a new best friend at the Build-A-Bear workshop any day of the week.
Entertainment
In collaboration with local businesses across the Washington metro area, National Harbor hosts several special events each month that attract thousands of visitors. Famous for their free summer movies, the Harbor regularly hosts parties, foodie events, shows and much more! While certain areas are available for private events, the area bars and night clubs will also hold special events if booked in advance.
Marina
As the premiere Chesapeake Bay marina, National Harbor is home to both boat docks and rentals, as well as sightseeing tours and chartered cruises and trips. Whether it’s your first time on a boat or you’re looking for something a little more challenging, chances are you’ll be able to find it here. Visitors can also rent canoes, kayaks and sail boats to enjoy the gorgeous Potomac River or travel to local historic sites in Mount Vernon or Old Town.
