Kaine, Allen Neck-and-Neck in Fundraising

The U.S. Senate race between Tim Kaine (D) and George Allen (R) is neck-and-neck both in the polls and in campaign funds raised from Virginia residents.
During the most recent filing period, which ran from May 24 to June 30, Kaine raised $667,000 in donations of $200 or more from Virginians, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, which compiles its data from OpenSecrets.org
Allen raised less, with $409,000, according to the data.
Allen outraised Kaine in Huntington and Belle Haven ZIP codes, where residents donated $40,250 to Allen’s campaign and $24,850 to Kaine’s.
Donors to the Allen camp in the 22307 and 22303 ZIP codes gave $30,450 and $9,800, respectively.
Kaine raised $23,550 and $1,300 from the 22307 and 22303 ZIP codes, respectively.
In overall fundraising, Kaine is hanging onto a narrow lead with $3.6 million compared to Allen’s $3.5 million in Virginia, in donations of $200 or more from Virginians.
