Hollin Hall Senior Center to Hold Annual Bazaar
“Mega” bazaar will be Oct. 20.
Save the date — the Hollin Hall Senior Center will hold a “mega” bazaar and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
The event includes more than 30 crafters, a silent auction with services and new merchandise, a bake sale, a raffle, door prizes and lunch. The bazaar is the senior center’s main fundraising event of the year.
Admission is free, and lunch items will start at $2.50. Senior center director Julie Ellis said the event has taken place for the past 20 years and helps funds center programs and special things for the center throughout the year.
The center’s needlework and craft groups spend the whole year making items to sell at the bazaar, Ellis said.
“It’s just a fun kick-off for the fall,” she said. “Since it’s been going on so many years, I think we have branded it well enough that the community enjoys coming out on the third Saturday of the month, and the community seems energetic, and our members really enjoy it. It’s just a chance for them to shine.”
The bazaar will also feature vendors selling items such as jewelry, doll clothing, dreamcatchers, artwork, woodwork and dried floral arrangements. “It’s a nice variety,” Ellis said. “I think we try to keep it well-balanced.”
The senior center is located at 1500 Shenandoah Road, Alexandria. For more information, call 703-324-4600, TTY 711.
