1. Fontaine Caffe & Creperie

Where/When: 119 South Royal Street in Old Town Alexandria; Thursday, 7 p.m. and Saturday 

Why Go: Fontaine has gotten popular recently with its Thursday night French film nights. Showing this Thursday: The Last Metro. This Saturday also marks Fontaine's three year anniversary. Come enjoy 25 percent off of your bottle of wine and get a piece of birthday cake too. Bon anniversaire!

Pricing: $6 and up beers, $16 and up French sparkling cider, $26 and up wines; food menu available

 

2. Mount Vernon's 24th Annual Town Meeting

Where/When: Mount Vernon High School; Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why Go: It's your Mount Vernon district town hall. Go voice your opinion. Say hello to your us there too!

Pricing: A canned good to benefit United Community Ministries (UCM)

 

3. Home Depot's Free Kids Workshops

Where/When: The Home Depot at 7710 Richmond Highway; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon

Why Go: The monthly workshops are designed for children ages 5-12. Kids learn do-it-yourself skills and safety instructions. February's project is a "Heart Shelf."

Pricing: Free 

 

4. Black History Month: Play Date with Pride

Where/When: Alexandria Black History Museum; Saturday, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Celebrate Black History Month with this interactive and educational workshop geared for kids 5 to 12. There will be crafts, music, storytelling, and dancing.

Pricing: $5 per child

 

5. Mount Vernon RECenter's Public Skate

Where/When:  Mount Vernon RECenter; Sunday, 12:45 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: February is National Skating Month. Plus, you've been skating around the ice the last two week anyway, right? Why not do it with skates on?

Pricing: $7 in addition to the general admission fee
