Fort Hunt Little League Celebrates Kickoff Game
Girl Scouts project provides new field walkway.
Representatives of Fort Hunt Little League and Plymouth Haven Baptist Church celebrated the opening game of the fall baseball season Saturday at Darsey Field.
Tony Castrilli, the division vice president for the league, and Shea Ruffin, a Girl Scout and a junior at West Potomac High School, also held a ribbon-cutting for a new walkway leading to the field at Ruffin constructed as part of of Ruffin’s Girl Scouts Gold Award project.
Ruffin, along with a team of friends and volunteers, worked hard to remove the unsafe and insecure plank walkway and replace it with a new walkway made of pavers and stone dust. The little league supported her efforts by purchasing new bleachers and a picnic table.
“It was wonderful to see the amount of support that I received for my project,” Ruffin said in a statement. “There was a great turnout and a beautiful day for baseball!”
