UPDATE, Saturday 6:49 p.m.: The victim in yesterday’s incident has been identified as Shelinda Delores Arrington, 21, from the 3300 block of Lockheed Boulevard.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled that the cause of Arrington’s death was a crush injury, and the manner of death was determined to be that the victim was run over by a motor vehicle.

Detectives want residents to be on the lookout for a dark colored SUV with unknown, temporary tags. The vehicle may or may not be a Chevrolet. Police want to expand the list of potential suspect vehicles rather than limiting them to a certain make and model.

When the SUV and its driver are identified, detectives may then learn what, if any relationship existed between the victim and the driver prior to this incident.

UPDATE, Friday 6:18 p.m.: The Fairfax County Police Department issued a news release Friday night describing the victim who died in today's incident on Harrison Lane as a 21-year old woman from Fairfax County.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death, however preliminarily, it appears the victim suffered from a traumatic injury to the upper body.

The initial investigation shows that the woman had been driving, stopped and exited her vehicle and had a discussion with another driver in traffic. There appeared to be some sort of altercation between the drivers. Police are not clear on whether the two knew each other or what the nature of the disagreement may have been. 

Police are on the lookout for a black Chevy SUV with temporary tags that fled the scene. Police are asking residents to call 703-691-2131 with any leads.

UPDATE: Police are looking for a black Chevy SUV with temporary tags that left the scene of a fatal incident Friday morning on Harrison Lane off of South Kings Highway in Groveton. Police are asking residents to call 703-691-2131 with any leads.

Some media outlets are calling the incident road rage, but police spokesperson Lucy Caldwell says it's premature to call it road rage. The incident is still under investigation. Keep checking Patch for updates on this developing story.

Earlier reports mention a light-colored SUV and a driver who stayed on the scene. The black SUV's driver was a third person involved the incident, Caldwell noted.

UPDATE: Police officials said an incident escalated this morning between two people on Harrison Lane off of South Kings Highway, and the results were fatal to one woman.

Police responded at 11:24 a.m. to a report of an assault on the 7000 block of Harrison Lane, just south of the intersection of Harrison Lane and South Kings Highway. Two vehicles were on the side of the road—one was a sedan and the other was a light-colored SUV, according to Fairfax County Police Department Public Information Officer Bud Walker. 

A woman reportedly got out of her car and engaged in a conversation with the SUV driver. At some point the situation escalated and the woman sustained serious injuries. Police said it is not clear how this occurred and the circumstances are being investigated.

The woman was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the SUV stayed on the scene.

A fatal accident has closed down roads around the intersection of Richmond Highway and South Kings Highway, according to Fairfax County Police. Police are advising that motorists avoid the area for the next couple of hours.
