East Coast Rapist Suspect to Use Insanity Defense

Reports claim the suspect plans to use insanity as his defense in multiple rape charges.

WTOP.com reported that East Coast rapist suspect Aaron Thomas will be claiming insanity in his Prince William County trial.

Thomas has a hearing in Manassas on Friday to determine if he is competent enough to stand trial, said WTOP. To learn more about what Thomas’ lawyers have said about his stay in jail, visit WTOP.com

Thomas has been linked by DNA evidence to rapes across the East Coast, thus the name "East Coast Rapist" police bestowed upon the suspect. The cases range from locally in Dale City, in Prince George's County in Maryland, Hybla Valley in Fairfax County, Leesburg and New Haven, CT.

Thomas was arrested at his home in Connecticut March 4 last year and was extradited to Prince William County.

On March 7, 2011, area police credited technology and “good old-fashioned” investigative techniques for the eventual arrest of Thomas.

What a nice slap in the face to the women he raped knowing that he is going to try and take the easy road out and some SOB is going to defend this trash and he will be back in society in no time. Our judicial system is a wonderful thing.

I believe that I was in the area (chasing my loose dog) the evening this guy was in Dale City (31 October). I could have saved the taxpayers some money if I knew he was in the area.

From WTOP: "His lawyers say Thomas is being housed in a cell with a blanket blocking the cracks in the door to prevent him from getting items to harm himself."
It seems as if the "residents" are trying to help him out.
