Did Someone Win Powerball?
The Powerball website was down for a bit late Wednesday night as millions checked to see if they won the $580 million Powerball jackpot.
ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Two people—one from Arizona, one from Missouri—have won the the record-breaking $580 million Powerball jackpot, according to lottery officials.
The winning numbers for the Wednesday, Nov. 28 drawing were: 5 23 16 22 29 with Powerball number 6.
In Virginia, taking a lump sum payment would have meant getting a check for $255,742,000, according to a Powerball Jackpot analysis by USAMega.com. Annuity payments would be $13,016,667 or $390,500,010 after 30 payments.
At least one person in Virginia did win $1 million in last night's drawing.
Didn’t win? Don’t fret. You may be happier without the money in the long run: $550 million will buy you a lot of misery, NBC News reported Wednesday.
On the other hand, the money may have been nice, considering the D.C. metro area is now one of the five most expensive metro areas in the country, according to a WTOP report.
Specifically, Arlington is the most expensive part of Virginia to live in (followed by Vienna, Alexandria, Ashburn and Fairfax), and Arlington is among the top 100 most expensive housing markets in the country, data from Coldwell Banker shows.
