West Potomac High School class president Hind Tatby, 18, will attend Valencia College this fall. She has a 3.51 GPA and participated in FBLA, student government, Workers CO-OP, and Bucknell-West Potomac mentoring.
Tatby also hosts a weekly radio show called Upickradio. She delivered a speech to her classmates at West Potomac’s graduation on Friday.
What made you choose Valencia College?
I had a difficult time trying to figure out where I wanted to go, and after denying scholarships to St. Johns University, Rutgers, and Johnson and Wales, I decided to go with something I’d be comfortable with and that was to go to Florida.
What is the inspiration behind your graduation speech?
The inspiration behind my speech was to show my fellow classmates that we are a talented group and the future is what we make of it.
How long did it take you to write your speech?
My speech took me about a week to write and another to polish it up
What are your plans for the summer?
My plans for the summer are to work and save up money for the fall, I want to also have a wonderful memorable summer with my friends before we go our separate ways.
What will you miss most about high school?
What I will miss most about high school is the teachers I’ve had over the past four years. They have taught me some of the best lessons in life that I will carry with me.
What will you miss most about home?
What I will miss most about home is my family. Its going to be really hard to say goodbye to my siblings and my parents.
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies include hanging out with friends, attending events, keeping up with the latest fashion trends and enjoying the outdoors.
What songs are you currently listening to on your iPod?
I like to listen to a lot of different music but the top three songs I play are Somebody I Used to Know by Gotye, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen, and Good Girl by Carrie Underwood.
