Burglaries Reported in Mount Vernon Police District

Fairfax County police reported two burglaries in the Mount Vernon Police District in the week leading up to Aug. 15.
The first burglary was reported at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at a residence in the 4400 block of Pembrook Village Drive. The homeowner reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry, an iPad, video games, a computer and cash. Entry made through a second-story window.
A second burglary was reported at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 13 at a residence in the 7100 block of Fairchild Drive. The resident returned home after being gone for two weeks and found her apartment burglarized.
Numerous items inside were broken and strewn about. Entry was made by smashing a balcony sliding glass door.
In separate and unrelated incidents:
- Keys were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 7900 block of Bayberry Drive.
- Four tires were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 6200 block of Gentle Lane.
- A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 4400 block of Groombridge Way.
- A speaker was reported stolen from a business in the 5700 block of Liberty Drive.
- A license plate was reported stolen from a vehicle on Richmond Highway.
- Cases of beer were reported stolen from a business in the 8100 block of Mount Vernon Highway.
- A diamond ring was reported stolen from a residence in the 4400 block of Neptune Drive.
- A cell phone was reported stolen from a business in the 2500 block of Parkers Lane.
- A cell phone was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 7500 block of Republic Court.
- A 1996 Honda was reported stolen from the 3800 block of Mariposa Place.
- A 2008 Acura was reported stolen from the 6200 block of Richmond Highway.
Note: The original version of this article reported a license plate was reported stolen on Ludgate Drive, as provided by police. The incident actually occured on Richmond Highway, and the report was taken on Ludgate Drive.
