The Safeway supermarket at the Belle View Shopping Center will close for renovations Sept. 29 and remain closed for up to six months.
The supermarket is expected to reopen in March 2013, said Safeway spokesman Craig Muckle earlier this year. Work adjacent to the existing store has already begun; that adjacent work will add about 5,300 square feet for a total of 45,000 square feet.
The renovated store will feature new meat and seafood department service, a Starbucks kiosk and an expanded bakery. Six self-checkout stands will be added.
The supermarket is located at 1624 Belle View Blvd. Shoppers can still patronize Safeway at the Fort Hunt Safeway, located at 7900 Fort Hunt Road in the Hollin Hall Shopping Center.

I agree w/ Scott. Don't bother going there, shelves are almost empty. Wonder if they are drastically discounting remaining items.
