Attempted Robbery At Beacon Mall

Two women attempted to rob 67-year-old Red Pony store owner

Two women entered the Beacon Mall Red Pony beauty supply store at 6676 Richmond Highway around 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20 with intent to commit a robbery, according to police.

The owner of the store, a 67-year-old man, was lured to the rear of the store by one of suspects while the other hopped over the counter, according to Fairfax County police spokesman Don Gotthardt said. It's unclear what the suspects were trying to take; nothing was reported stolen, Gotthardt said.

The suspects were described as black, between 5'3 and 5'6 and between 100 and 120 pounds, police said. One woman was between 18 and 23 years, while the other was about 16 years old, police said. The store owner was not injured.
