West Potomac Grad Presents Lecture

West Potomac High School graduate and Hampden-Sydney College senior Kevin Komson Sidney presented his senior fellowship project April 18 in a public lecture at the college. Sidney is one of a select group of seniors who undertook an extended, interdisciplinary research project which culminated in a public presentation.

Although senior fellows are undergraduates, they are expected to pursue their research project at the graduate-school level. Each project is evaluated on its originality, on the thoroughness of its research methods, and on the quality of the final presentation. Sidney's project, for Honors in Economics and Mathematics, was entitled "United States of Investment: An econometric analysis of state location determinants of foreign direct investment."

Sidney also played varsity baseball for two years and served on the NCAA Student-Athlete Committee. He is a member of the social fraternity Lambda Chi and the honorary society Phi Beta Kappa. A mathematical economics major, Sidney is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Louis E. Sidney of Alexandria.
