Two teams from Carl Sandburg Middle School are headed to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Iowa State University. The cost for these two teams to participate in this event is nearly $20,000.

The teams are hosting various fundraising events throughout the month of May:

May 11: A Sandburg Odyssey: From 4:15-5 p.m. in the Sandburg cafeteria. Both teams will perform their solutions to the Ooh-Motional Vehicle problem and to the NASA-sponsored Weird Science problem, followed by some spontaneous problems and the opportunity to talk to team members and look at their amazing creations! If you have been wondering what Odyssey is all about, this is a terrific opportunity to find out more. Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted at the door.

May 12: Multi-family yard sale:  From 8 a.m. to noon at the Waynewood Recreation Association parking lot

May 12: Parents’ Night Out: From 6 to 10 p.m. Experienced middle school students will entertain your kids with games, fun activities and snacks at Aldersgate Church on Fort Hunt Road. May 16: Bake Sale: Immediately after school at Sandburg Middle School.

May 16: Noodles and Co: From 5 to 9 p.m. Let the cashier know you are there to support Sandburg’s Odyssey of the Mind teams.

May 17: Cici’s Restaurant: From 5 to 9 p.m. Let your server and/or the cashier know that you are there to support Sandburg’s Odyssey of the Mind teams.

May 21: Primos Restaurant: From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. for all-you-can-eat pizza, salad and soda. Cost: $10 per person
