Mount Vernon Athletic Club Donates Tennis Equipment to Local School
Mount Vernon Athletic Club (MTVAC), a local health and tennis club, noticed a need at Hybla Valley Elementary School. The school has two tennis courts directly attached to the school grounds, and yet, the physical education department had minimal equipment for the children to learn to play tennis.
Member Jim Poole initiated the collection of member’s unused racquets and tennis balls. The response was very successful, and the staff was able to deliver 15 racquets and a large bag containing dozens of new tennis balls to the school.
Dr. Lauren Sheehy, Principal at Hybla Valley Elementary School, and Physical Education Department Head, Sharon Kotovsky, welcomed Tennis Pro, Matt Krawczyk, and MTVAC Outreach Director, Maggie Britvec, to their school and accepted the donation on behalf of the students. Dr. Sheehy praised their efforts, “Thank you so much. Our students are thrilled to have this new equipment and look forward to using it in time for Wimbledon!”
